Rivers Reach Marks a Milestone of Community, Culture and Hope
Rivers Reach has reached an important milestone, celebrating its first year of providing supportive housing and recovery-oriented services in Maple Ridge. Opened in spring 2025, Rivers Reach offers 52 studio apartments for individuals who need support to maintain stable housing. Fraser Health is co-located on-site, providing support to 16 tenants in a safe and supportive environment. Residents have access to daily supports, including nutritious meals, life skills training, medication management, and clinical services from nurses, mental health workers, and peer specialists.
Guided by Coast Mental Health’s psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery model, Rivers Reach supports residents in developing personalized recovery plans that may include life skills development, employment support, substance use treatment and ongoing healthcare services. The program is designed to help residents build stability, strengthen their well-being and work toward their individual goals.
The anniversary celebration brought together residents, staff, partners and community members to recognize the positive impact Rivers Reach has made during its first year. A highlight of the event was the unveiling of a powerful artwork created by resident and Katzie First Nation artist Vernon Chapman. Traditional teachings and ceremonies shared by Katzie First Nation Knowledge Keepers underscored the importance of culture, healing and belonging in supporting recovery and resilience.

The program’s first year is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through community, culture and hope.
