Coast’s Trust Program helps people living with mental illness protect and manage their financial assets. The program provides peace of mind by supporting individuals in managing funds and planning for their future while maintaining their independence and quality of life.

A trust is a legal arrangement where assets are managed by a trustee for the benefit of another person. Coast administers disability trusts, also known as Henson trusts, which can help individuals with disabilities manage funds such as inheritances without affecting their Persons with Disabilities (PWD) benefits. Coast is authorized to administer trust funds of up to $500,000 in British Columbia and currently supports approximately 300 trust clients with more than $13 million in assets under management.

Trust funds can be used for disability-related expenses and other purchases or services that promote a person’s independence, well-being, and recovery. While the program primarily serves people living with mental illness, exceptions may be made for individuals with other disabilities.
