Matt Bell

Matt Bell, Clubhouse member and employed through the Transitional Employment Program

“I came into this street cleaning after not working for two years, because the last people I worked with — I couldn’t fully explain to them that I had a mental illness or that something was wrong — it was like they didn’t accept it. And it was really scary. One beneficial thing that I learned is that here, you can always talk to your staff member or talk to your boss about what’s going on, which really makes it a huge weight off my shoulders. It makes everything easier,” says Matt Bell, a Clubhouse members who re-gained his confidence and developed essential work skills through the TEP. Read Matt’s Story.

In 2019/2020 the employment program supported 87 members with paid employment. We work with over 20 Business Improvement Associations and local businesses through our Street Clean Team and Landscaping with Heart services.  Additionally, we have ongoing office training and paid work experience opportunities available to members throughout the Clubhouse. But, it doesn’t end here. We always have new opportunities that may better fit your needs. Give us a call to learn more.

Rick Minhas, Program Coordinator, Transitional Employment Program

“Coast Mental Health’s employment program allows members to try various jobs in a supportive environment without the added stress of interviews. Instead, a staff member you know at Coast will provide the training you need to be successful.  A staff member will also connect with you during each shift to ensure you have everything you need, “ say Rick Minhas, TEP Program Coordinator, who works with members to support their employment goals.
